this series is SO EXTREMELY outside of my comfort zone, so imagine my surprise when i found myself unable to stop reading! if you go in expecting it to be a one-dimensional gore fest, i think you might be robbing yourself of an interesting read.

i found the characters deeply compelling and i could tell from the get-go that the premise was going to be explored beyond surface-level violent catharsis. it's a story that depicts incredible acts of depravity and violence, identifies with the emotions behind these acts, but does not condone them or ask you to deify them. the fantastic writing and art direction make this clear to me, and it feels smart enough to trust in its audience to get what's going on without being too vague or holding their hand.

it's an intense read, as the extensive and in-depth content warnings may suggest, but it's not often a story invests me so deeply that im shouting "HOLY SH*T" at both the spectacle and the character beats. i'm constantly impressed by what these two can do, and i cannot wait to dive in to the rest of their library. watching the already IMPRESSIVELY expressive and evocative visuals evolve was a feast (ha) for the eyes, and the dialogue and plotting made for a shockingly digestible (HAAA) read.

it's not an easy recommend due to its subject matter, but if you're even remotely interested in this series and think you can stomach it, it's well worth the read and then some. heed the content warnings and respect your boundaries, naturally. it's a pretty unflinching story when it comes to its subject matter, and i don't think that's to its detriment. if you think you can stomach it, consider giving the story a chance.

i'm probably going to be drawing these characters immediately. this story now lives in my brain rent free. i will be thinking about sad sack until i die.

hats off to you, sus comics! keep up the stellar work!

Because god forbid people actually care about others and want Nazis dead I guess?

Also "I haven't even read it but 1/10" maybe don't rate shit you haven't read lmao

hey rob, i felt it was worthwhile to respond to this to say that the comic delves more into the very topic of violence as justice and the "pros and cons" of it. This of course doesnt mean you have to support it or like how we tackled it, and if the content bothers you we definitely dont want you subjecting yourself to it or giving us money just so we can prove a point, but i did want to clarify that we explore the subject a little deeper than just "kill people that you dont like", if that eases your mind.

We apreciate that and we agree! don't worry, the main characters are not written to be the good guys at all and are depicted in a very negative light, specially as the story progresses.

Sad Sack isn't for the faint of heart, and not just for the stomach-turning depictions of gore and torture. Ultimately, it's a story about being human. SadS holds a mirror up to the reader and challenges them to find the ugliest parts of themselves in the explosive character dynamics and psych profiles, and to recognize the parts of their enemies that might have been worth saving (except Vaska, who deserved everything he got).

This isn't a one-and-done comic and the authors are selling themselves short by describing it offhandedly as gay snuff. There's something new to find every time you look through the pages, and it'll stick with you long after a reading trying to make sense of itself inside your head.

I hate reading sad stories. But every once in a while I'll find space for one in my collection--I'm glad that it ended up being Sad Sack.

This comic set is worth it for the art and gore alone, but it also comes with fantastic writing, characters, and re-readability.

The characters' expressions and the way the dialogue is presented provide some incredibly visceral comic panels.

Every readthrough I find new details to ooh and ah over. There are little bits of foreshadowing that you'll only fully understand once you've read through the whole thing a couple of times.

Also, I wanna gush about Jake for a sec so bear with me. Jake is an autistic character that is never infantilized, he's never mocked for his autism nor is he ever seen as annoying. He just is. He reads as neurodivergent without ever stating "Hi, I'm autistic." and it's fucking fantastic. His autism isn't a tacked-on afterthought either, it's baked into his character and his motivations. He's allowed to have his 'messy ' autistic moments, which is something I rarely see but heavily resonate with. Okay, Jacob Martin fanclub dismissed lol.

Buy this comic, read it, enjoy it, 10/10.

this comic changed my life (positive). the captivating story and dialogue shared among these characters have kept me up many of nights in the best way possible. the art in sad sack is some of the best art i have ever seen in any form of media. the attention to detail, the extreme expressions make the reader feel as if they were there to a point. i would highly HIGHLY recommended sad sack because of the art alone, but honestly the story itself and the characters are really something special. after reading sad sack you will feel a great emptiness inside, but it is something great regardless <3

i love this work so much hehe

Actual masterpiece

this comic series will be unlike anything you've ever seen before; or at least it was for me, anyway. each book is psychological, visceral, nauseatingly interesting, and unapologetic all the way through. as the reader, you are positioned to watch something really ugly unfurl.

the speech bubbles are used so effectively that you can feel the dialogue come screaming out of the page. the overall composition is constantly drawing your attention throughout the story, keeping you wrapped up in the action. the greyscale combined with splashes of bright red is a great design choice, but the full-color pages surely don't disappoint and add a whole nother dimension themselves. the characters swing violently between "kinda relatable" (maybe even someone you'd  know or have been friends with) and "astonishingly horrible and scummy, Jesus Christ".

the cast should've realized they needed therapy a long time ago, but throughout each volume, they just keep hammering in that metaphorical nail. everything works in tandem to serve you up a brutal, unforgettable masterpiece. your jaw will drop once or twice at the least

definitely do not skip out on this if it's something you can handle!

no exaggeration: you will hold not only comics but storytelling as a whole to a higher standard after reading this series.

I found this whole series on ACCIDENT and my morbid curiosity got the better of me, and lemme tell you I'm not big into gore, but this was one of the BEST snuff comics I've ever read in a while. The use of lighting is spectacular, the characters feel like people you'd cross paths with in real life, the gore is phenomenal, disgusting, but impossible to look away from, and if I could read it blind again I would 100%. Do NOT go in with a weak stomach, DO come in if you're ready for some strong character studies, brutality, and an ending that is absolutely FIRE, I loved every minute of this and now I'm gonna have to see what's in store for these 5 dumbasses
